It is with a sad heart that I sit down to
write this. Robin Williams, one of the
greatest, if not the greatest comedian
of our time, passed away yesterday from
apparent suicide. It was one of the
saddest stories for me this year mainly because I have a personal connection
with Mr. Williams, even though I have never met him.

A Job I Hate
You know those days where you show up for work, slightly
tired from the previous day, and find out you have no work to do for the day
because of circumstances involving meetings and shortage of projects? That was my day on Tuesday. There’s nothing worse than having to show up
for a 8 – 5 job and know you will probably be twiddling thumbs for most of the
day, especially if you can think of more than a hundred other things you would
rather be doing with that time.

Random Thoughts 1
Election Fallacy
It’s the Monday of the second week after
the many holidays we had. South Africa’s
voting is done and the news surrounding it is subsiding. The election posters still hang on the lamp
posts, and will continue hanging there long after the elections are forgotten,
rotting away as the elements weather them; the parties who put them there too
lazy to take them down, and too concerned with other matters.

Follow-up to "Beware the Prophets"
Dear reader
I hope that you are well and that, wherever you are, your life is an unending blessing.
I feel the need to qualify the reason for my previous entry regarding false prophets. I have, as mentioned in previous posts, signed up to lead my own connect group, which is basically a cell group for church. Each connect group leader falls under a main leader, also running their own group, which report directly to the pastor in charge of the connect groups. The week before the connect groups began, as well as last weekend, my connect group main leader prophesied over me and the other connect group leaders under them.

Beware the Prophets
Beware the Prophets
It’s been quite a few weeks since I wrote anything on this
blog. I had a busy few weeks, meeting
friends, going to the movies, and helping out at church. The connect groups started and ended after 8 weeks, and
took quite a bit of my time, but I got to meet some of the most wonderful
people in my church that I wouldn’t meet under any other circumstances. I’ve been very excited about my group ever
since it was announced last year and decided to get involved, and I have to say that
there wasn’t any moment where I was disappointed over my choice.
But I would like to talk about something else. I have something that lies heavy on my heart. It is
something I’ve encountered in my faith ever since I was 14, and it, or they, have either caused joy or irreparable harm
to those that believe in Christ. I’ve
had mixed encounters with the people that say they have it, and I have heard
both good and bad stories about it (more bad than good, though), and I have
felt the need to bring this up here in my blog.
I’m talking about Christians who profess to have the gift of
prophecy, or are or have prophesied in their faith.

The Mob Mentality
Dear reader
I hope that you are doing well as you sit there. For a lot of people I know this year did not start off as well as they had hoped, and I hope that it is not the same for you. Work-wise the people in my immediate surroundings are stressed and already feel overworked despite having taken a holiday in December, and I believe that people, like me, who did not take leave during Christmas and New Year are especially feeling this year already. I pray that the year improves in general.

What Awaits This Year
Dear reader
So the amount of work at my job has increased as everyone's back. This makes it harder to actually think of something to write in the blog as I don't have the same amount of time on my hands as I had during the holidays. Last week I just completely skipped the blog as my weekend got full, with various meetings at my church. Yes, the year is in full swing and my weekly schedule is filling up, slowly eating away the time I had to myself during the holidays. But it isn't all bad.
There is a lot to look forward to this year, and I believe that it will be a far better year than last year.

A New Year
Dear reader
First, an apology. I promised that I would write another entry last Friday, which, unfortunately, did not happen. The post didn't pan out as I hoped, plus the fact that my arm is in a sling makes typing difficult, and I decided it was best to just skip the week. For that I apologize.
Now on to this week's post.
